about alphapix

John Cowpland is the award-winning photographer behind alphapix photography

With a career in photography spanning over two decades, you can be assured that anything John doesn't know about photography, isn't really worth knowing.

With a multitude of awards, including the prestigious Qantas Media Awards 'Photographer of the Year' under his belt, John set off to the United States to complete a course called the Missouri Photo Workshop, where he worked alongside some of the world's top photographers. He then went on to win the 'Golden Eagle' top student award from this course.

Having worked in various roles within the media, John understands deadlines, accuracy and time management like no other.  His military precision stems from his having been trained in photography by the Royal New Zealand Air Force where high expectations and nothing but the best are commanded.

John spent a number of years as deputy chief photographer with Hawkes Bay Today and Daily Telegraph after which he took his career further by setting up his own company, alphapix, which he has been running now for over 8 years.  With business steadily increasing John as taken on another team member who is as passionate about photography as he is.

Beth joined alphapix over 2 years ago and is now, after extensive training, an integral part of alphapix photography.  Beth comes from a teaching background and has a rapport like no other when it comes to photographing children.  Together these two creatives combine to offer alphapix clients a professional, polished and 'eye for detail' flair that rarely is surpassed.
